Information about the drug
Cytomel is a synthetic analogue of the human’s hormone, which is produced by the thyroid gland. Triodothyronine (T3) is a hormone responsible for the metabolism, the rapid absorption (processing) of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. The thyroid gland secretes mainly T4 (thyroxine) – this hormone itself has a weak biological activity, but in the tissues it is converted to a more active form of T3 (triiodothyronine or cytomel) using an enzyme. T3 in turn has a major biological effect.
Although synthetic Cytomel has been available since 1950, thyroid hormones, including T3, have been used medically since 1890. Medications based on hormones synthesized by the thyroid gland were invented back in the 19th century. However, they were significantly different from modern drugs, although they can be considered quite effective. Early thyroid treatment drugs were simply animal thyroid extracts and contained pure forms of the hormone T3 and T4.
In the most active way the hormone T3 influences on the process of lipolysis. Lipolysis is the breakdown of adipose tissue in order to generate energy. Thanks to this property, Cytomel has earned the image of the best fat burner. This drug is a leader among the products that are used in preparation for the performance of bodybuilding and other disciplines in which it is important to reduce the body fat level. This drug is often used by athletes who have problems with excess weight. The special properties of the drug allow you to lose fat tissue without even any diet.
In humans, thyroid hormones increase oxygen consumption. Metabolism increases in the heart and skeletal muscles, liver and kidneys. An increase in oxygen consumption by 30-40% is due to increased heart function.
It is also noted that when taking thyroid hormones together with steroids, you can achieve a significant anabolic effect, pronounced brighter than when using only steroids. All this, most likely, is associated with faster processing of proteins in the body, which increases the rate of accumulation of new muscle mass.
Applying
Cytomel is a drug that actively burns fat, so it is used before the performance to bring the appearance to an ideal state, its application allows drawing every muscles and showing the relief. In preparation for the competition, using Cytomel, you can significantly reduce body fat, without even reducing the number of calories consumed. But the drug is quite powerful, so should be used with caution.
The schedule of applying is also quite difficult, the main principle of using is a smooth start and the same drug withdrawal. The general course of treatment shouldn’t exceed 6 weeks, as this can lead to disorders of your thyroid gland work.
You should start taking the drug with the minimum dosage of 25 micrograms (one tablet), then you should add 12.5 micrograms (a half of the tablet) every 3-4 days. Thus, depending on the desired result, the optimal dosage is recruited, approximately 75 mcg per day. The maximum allowable dosage is 100 mcg.
For better action of this drug, the daily dose should be divided into three parts and taken at an equal interval of time. Starting from the middle of your course, the dosage gradually decreases, also at 12.5 mcg once every 3-4 days. By the end of the course, you should reach a dose 25-12.5 mcg. After such course of using Cytomel, you should take a break of at least 8 weeks, it is necessary for the natural rehabilitation of the thyroid gland. Take iron (Fe) and calcium (Ca) medications no earlier than 4 hours after taking the hormone
Many women and bodybuilders resort to the use of Cytomel as a means for losing weight. T3 has a powerful fat burning effect, increases calorie consumption and accelerates metabolism. Its popularity has declined recently due to a negative effect on the heart, Cytomel has an adrenaline-like effect, causing the heart to beat more often, and at the same time it causes a feeling of excitement and anxiety, which are not well tolerated. However, many side effects can be eliminated by combining Cytomel and beta blockers.
Side effects
This drug can cause such symptoms as hyperthyroidism if it’s applied in big doses:
- Hyperactivity;
- Hand tremor, muscle tremors,
- Heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia, tachycardia, angina pectoris, extrasystole);
- Sweating;
- Diarrhea, vomiting,
- Headache, insomnia, anxiety,
- High blood pressure,
- With prolonged use, osteoporosis may develop, because excess T3 leaches calcium from bones.
Reception of Cytomel accelerates all metabolic processes in the body, but protein also leaves with adipose tissue. You lose not only fat, but also the muscles that are made up of proteins.
Extremely high doses or excessive exposure to the hormone T3 can also lead to potential complications. Side effects of Cytomel in this category include: angina pectoris, shock, chronic heart failure, hyperthyroidism.
Many people believe that Cytomel can irreversibly suppress the function of their own thyroid gland, however, studies have shown that even large doses of the drug after 3 weeks of intake reduce their own hormone secretion by only 20%, while after 4 weeks the secretion returned to normal.
